Selected Population Profiles

American Community Survey Data Iterated by Race, Hispanic origin,
Ancestry and Age

Read the press release.

The American Community Survey (ACS) now provides detailed population profiles for about 200 groups at the state and national levels. Some profiles are available for cities and metropolitan areas, but are limited. Groups must have a population of over 65,000 within the given geography in order for summary statistics for this group to be published. The profiles include educational attainment, income, employment, industry, poverty rates, household characteristics, housing tenure, ownership of vehicles, etc.

To access these profiles, go to the American Factfinder datasets section for the American Community Survey.

  • In the greyed out section, click “Selected Population Profiles”
  • Then select a geography such as state
  • Select the state of interest from the list that appears
  • Click the ‘Add’ button
  • Continue adding geographies or click the ‘Next’ button
  • Select a race or ethnic group, or click the ‘Ancestry Groups’ tab to pick an ancestry group such as Croatian or Nigerian
  • Click the ‘Show Result’ button
  • Behold, a table full of socioeconomic statistics about this group of interest to you.
